What is Anima?

Anima seamlessly and confidentially integrates with your medical record bringing improvements to how you access care and appointments and how our staff assess your condition. While you are still able to call the surgery, the online triage form through Anima will ask you the same questions, streamlining the process. This is another option for our patients to use to contact us about a medical problem, admin request or ask a simple question.

Anima FAQs

Why is Anima not available all the time?

The practice operates a full triage system via Anima. After completing the online form the Duty Doctor will determine who the most appropriate clinician is for you for either a face-to-face or telephone consultation.  We receive between 70-120 medical requests per day and when safe working capacity is reached Anima is closed, however you can still submit an Admin request.

How to add a dependant to my account

  1. Log into anima
  2. Select settings
  3. Dependants & children
  4. Add new dependant
  5. Enter detail of dependant
  6. Add new dependant
  7. You can now submit a request on behalf of a dependant

Due to data protection regulations, anyone over the age of 12 years old has to consent for a parent/ carer to have access to their records. They can provide the surgery with written consent to be added as a dependant.

How soon will I hear back?

  • For urgent requests, we will aim to respond within 24 hours (one working day).
  • For routine requests, we will aim to respond within 72 hours (three working days).
  • For admin requests, forms, and other general enquiries, we will aim to respond within five working days.
  • You will be contacted through the app and also through email on the next steps (if any).

Why has the practice changed to Anima?

GP practices are contractually required to offer online consultations that can be used by patients, carers and by practice staff on a patient’s behalf, to gather submitted structured information and to support triage. Ensuring that patients are seen by the appropriate clinician in the right place and the right time means that patient care and experience is improved, and it reduces pressure on GP practices, allowing GPs to spend their time where it is needed the most.

Can I use Anima to request a prescription?

Currently, the process of requesting medication through Anima is not the easiest way. We recommend you use the NHS app to request your repeat prescriptions, you can also continue to request via your local pharmacy or by dropping a repeat prescription request into one of the dedicated boxes at the surgery.

Is Anima an app?

No, Anima is not an app currently. It can only be accessed through the website. The Anima team are working on integration with the NHS app and we will update you when this has happened.

You can however create a ‘button’ to appear as an app onto your home page on your smart phone, tablet or computer. You can log into Anima using your NHS app login credentials or create your own unique Anima username and password.

Can I book a nurse appointment through Anima?

You can certainly use Anima to request nurse appointments, but these can also be booked by calling reception in the usual way.

How will you make contact with me?

Depending on the nature of your request and our response, we may contact you in various ways. For example, we may be able to process your request without having to speak to you and therefore will send you an SMS and/or email.

If we need to speak to you directly, then we will contact you via telephone - please ensure you answer if you are expecting a call from our team.

Whats the difference between nhs app and Anima?

  • Anima is a way for you to communicate with us and vice versa, it does not store your medical record, test results etc.
  • The NHS app is still what you should use to check results and view your clinical record. It is also the quickest way to request your routine repeat medications.

Although the same log in can be used for both.
